A SHORT UNIT HISTORY OF 14 COMBAT ENGINEER SQUADRON
The origins of the 14th Combat Engineer Squadron, which has an enduring legacy in Newcastle and is still an active Squadron, can be traced to WWI.
The 14th Field Company was raised in Egypt at Tel-al-Kebir on the 10th March 1916. The nucleus of Sappers used to form this new Company came from the Officers and NCO’s of the 1st Field Company, which saw action at Gallipoli, as well as the 7th Field Company.
